Roll at the Bowl (Myer Music Bowl, Melbourne 2002-2003)

"All Over, Red Rover"

It was with a heavy heart and sorrowful soul that I left the Music Bowl early on that fateful day in 2003; had I realised it would be the last time I would roll those grassy green hills I would have savoured every last second, every last slide, every last stroll back up to the top. The Music Bowl, or just the 'Bowl' as it was affectionately known was the venue for many a great session.
Right in the heart of Melbourne, the lush, rolling green turf next to the Yarra River was an ideal place to ride - conditions weren't always great, but regardless a day at the Bowl was a good day. One wonders why the MCC feels the need to deprive us all of this great turf - riders there always took great care and treated the area with respect.
Many a session was in the vicinity and it was only until a few months ago that our riding caught the eye of some red tape wielding council men. Unfortunately for all borders the MCC deemed our riding to be dangerous and have banned ATB from the venue, fines and possible confiscation will now be enforced to any rider caught surfing the turf.

But enough of the disgraceful decision by the MCC - let us forget what is and remember what was:

Top 5 Music Bowl Highlight's

1) Hugh and the light pole's head bangingly resplendent tangle.
2)Waffle's head plant into the bog which left him wondering who he was for days to come.
3) John Morton's impassioned pleas with a heartless MCC worker on that last fateful day
4) The Unofficial Munro Longest Air Comp. which drew a humungous crowd.
5) Ryan Slater's nice fall from about 6 feet up in the air straight onto his backside

Here are just a few picture's from various Music Bowl Sessions:

Thanks to Hugh for producing this great piece of video art from the last Music Bowl Session (10mb):
