Welcome to Loch- a board rider's delight

Recently yours truly, accompanied by the irrepressible Hugh T, travelled down the South Gippsland Highway to have a ride at John Morton's property 'Ryebena' in Loch. Located about an hours and a half drive out of Melbourne, Loch is a picturesque   pocket of Victoria with terrain just screaming to be ridden. JM's property is nothing short of a mountain boarder's delight with some good dirt jumps, fast tracks  and entertaining cattle. The weather for this road trip was much better than the last time the Waffsmobile headed down, not a torrential storm in sight this time; thank the Lord! Present at the property for the days ride were myself, Hugh, Trev, John Morton and one of Australia's premier grommets Ollie Morton. Pretty good turn out considering that there were three other sessions planned for the day.

The terrain was quite hard, fast and lumpy in some spots but provided a solid ride and plenty of speed off the mark. There were three major runs mowed in, each slightly different in technicality  as far as negotiating speed and turns goes. The most ridden track for the day involved a straight run into the first dirt jump, which Trev ripped right up, a left or right turn past Loch's version of a traffic island into a high right bank which drops back into the hill and towards the bottom. Certainly enjoyable, definitely challenging; this is the sort of place that riding regularly would improve your skills ten fold. Unfortunately I didn't get  any photographs of my own for the day, however thanks to the wonders of the digital video camera and the Internet some footage and photo's will soon be released.

Highlights of the day:

Doing a warm up highland jig in front of some very strange cattle
Figuring out how to tackle the fastest track without eating cow pat coming out of the bank
Trev's 360
Hugh's camerawork
Ollies stack
John's speed!

Thanks to JM for letting us head down for a carve, really enjoyed it and I am sure that everyone is keen to head back when the weather gets better to camp out and maybe dig in for some bigger, better jumps!
