On Sunday the 14th December 2003 the Big Vic Session turned 3 years old, establishing itself as an Aussie ATB institution. The sun shone down on Canning St as close to 30 riders swarmed upon the dry, yellow hills which would prove to provide an awesome day of riding. It was awesome to see so many new faces in the crowd of thrill seekers, you know things are picking up for the sport when you struggle to remember the new peoples' names! The usual crew were there to, as always supporting our sport and having a ball.

Due to the drought, the track was super hard and really dry. The dust and dead grass was sent flying as the cream of Victorian boarding talent flew down the hill, pulled some massive airs of the ATBAUSTRALIA.tk kicker and slid out down the bottom. A comfortable 26 degree day and favourable surface conditions meant that in 2003, free riding stepped up as the session style of choice. Long, drawn out front side carves and high speed heel side slides were really nice to pull out on the steeper section of the hill and if that wasn't a rider's cup of tea then you could always just bomb it like Tom Pianta and Sam Adams were! Absolutely crazy speeds were reached.

The quality of riding since the BVS' humble beginnings has gone through the roof, particularly amongst the ranks of those who like to soar on the wings of Eagles (that's what the Guru would say anyway!) Ryan, Nick and Jarrad stole the show with some awesome aerial acrobatics, along with many others who were willing to get up to 10 ft above the landing, huge air! The spectators were given a beautiful display of the All Terrain Boarding in all its glory, from BS 360s to free riding, racing and bog boarding the Victorian Crew really turned it on. The sight or 25+ riders carving along in a mass Chinese Downhill almost brought a tear to my eye.

Of course, the Canning St Classic took place again with most riders ready and willing to do whatever it took to claim the crown of King Of The Hill! Prizes were supplied by Munro Mountain boards along with a set of bearing courtesy of Jacquie McMillan; a big thank you to both of you from everyone that attended! John Morton took a great deal of delight mowing down the field and taking out all competitors who got in his way, young Ollie Morton was quite content to take himself out of the contest with a nasty stack which left him in Big Roger's line of fire. Lucky for Ollie, Roger didn't run over him instead choosing to take the scenic route. At the front of the pack Ryan, Jarrad, Sam and a few others jostled for front position with Jarrad pipping the others right on the finish line. Intense ride for all involved!

Thanks to everyone for attending and making the BVS exactly what it is supposed to be, your support and enthusiasm is appreciated by all involved. To the people who brought along their ramps, Ryan, Hugh and John another big thank you. Again Adam and Jacquie for supplying a few prizes and the members of the Egan family which helped out on the day. Here's to a successful 2003, a merry christmas and happy new year. Huzzah!
